Last Spring in our Squirt Tournament, I got a chance to meet a ton of great people in Minnesota Hockey. All of the coaches (Chris Hoffman from OMG and Jason Williams from Edina – off the top of my head) , managers (Alicia Carr from Elk River), and
parents (Greg Gess Moorhead and Stu Nutting) were great people.
But the kids stood out the most.
One kid who I happened to meet (in the penalty box of all places) was Joe F. from the Mound team. Typical hockey player – gritty, tough and passionate.
I saw this picture in the Star Tribune Wednesday of Joe and a 20 pound fish that he caught on Lake Superior with his 83 year old grandpa. Great quote from the young skater about the catch, “I’m glad I caught it because it would have pulled grandpa in…”
Nice catch Joe…see you at the rink.
