You could write a novel on how many epic upsets happened this weekend. Twenty seed Burnsville beat White Bear Lake a five. That got things off on the wrong foot for the favorites and the favorites never righted the ship all weekend. On Saturday, it got worse. Osseo Maple Grove loses two on Saturday #4 is out. White Bear loses to Edina, #5 is out. Probably the biggest surprise was #2 Edina losing to Elk River Sunday Morning to be eliminated. And then the entire earth almost froze over when #1 MPLS lost to St. Cloud in the South Finals. The Storm righted the ship and beat EP to advance as the #2 seed out of the South. All tolled, five of the state's top 7 teams missed the dance (Edina, OMG, WBL, Blaine, and Moorhead).

As for this year's dance card, several great teams with a lot of confidence. MPLS is an impressive group of players. Strong Defensemen, three solid lines and an ability to control play with both their physical skill and mental discipline. Rosemount is also a team with the same pedigree.

Thankfully the Hockey Gods have them on separate sides of the Bracket. But, knowing them and knowing how the underdogs have ruled in the playoffs, who knows.
