Miracle Gold, 2004 AAA State Champions.

As if the afternoon needed any more adrenaline, the 2004 title game may have set the new standard for excitement in the AAA State Tournament.

Miracle Gold drew first blood in the second period, with Dylan Dodson scoring from Tyler Grahme and August Falloon. The Steeldogs responded in the same period with a goal by Nick Pierre, and the teams carried the 1-1 tie into the third frame.

Just over a minute into the third period, Reed Kluender scored for the Steeldogs and seemingly tilted the scales toward his team's side of the ice despite strong play from Tournament MVP Christian Manz between the pipes for Miracle Gold.

Enter August Falloon.

The Miracle Gold power forward scored at the eight-minute mark of the final frame before knocking the puck through Nick Erickson's five-hole for the game-winner with just three ticks left on the clock.

The win gave coach Scott Steffen his second AAA State crown in as many games, as he guided the 2005 Miracle Gold squad to its championship just one game before the 2004 title match.

In this game's case, the hyperbolic statement that it may be one of the best YHH tournament championships in the past three years is more than appropriate.
