2016-2017 Record: 24-4-3

Despite an ultra-talented team, the Spuds fell to the Grand Rapids buzzsaw in the state finals last season, setting the stage for a postseason redemption story. 

Leading scorer senior Carter Randklev (33-27-60) returns to the Moorhead lineup, as do seniors Cole O’Connell (22-31-53) and Jack Stetz (15-30-45). North Dakota commit Ethan Frisch (7-13-20) should continue to improve entering his junior season, and under-the-radar senior Parker Larson (4-18-22) provides another veteran presence on the blue line. 

Giving the Spuds a significant edge entering the season in the return of Lance Leonard for his senior campaign. Leonard posted a record of 21-4-3 with a goals-against average of 1.64 and save percentage of .927. Leonard also totaled six shutouts on the season, clean sheets in all three section games.
