Hill-Murray

2016-2017 Record: 19-7-4

A vaunted Stillwater team met the Pioneers in the Section 4AA finals last season for the second straight year, and the boys in green rode a mix of staunch goaltending and clutch scoring from veterans to the upset victory.

That combination is one of the more replicable ones when it comes to high school hockey, and despite losing multiple top-scorers and Frank Brimsek Award-winner Jake Begley, a Bill Lechner squad is a Bill Lechner squad.

Junior forward and Wisconsin commit Ben Helgeson (13-15-28) will be heavily relied upon in his third season with the Pioneers and should pair well with scrappy Mike Fleischhacker (11-11-22) up front.

Senior Joey Petronack (5-14-19) is the elder statesman on defense for the Pioneers, and sophomore defender Brett Oberle committed to Minnesota-Duluth while totaling 10 points during Elite League play.

The only netminder returning from last season is sophomore Wyatt Vint, a former White Bear Lake youth standout.

Hill-Murray upset Stillwater last season at Aldrich Arena en route to the state tournament.
