Top 20 Goalies in Minnesota, all ages, all levels

Cade McEwen came up big time after time this year for Hermantown

20 Goalies, 8 Levels

Finding the Goalie of the Year is a tall task. Our YHH staff sees over 500 games a year. We see kids at all levels. Different than a Player of the Year award that tends to focus on A and AA players, our Goalie of the Year award is open to a player at any level. Our criteria is simple...was this player the best player on the team, did the player win games they didn't deserve, and possibly the most difficult is did YHH ever see the Goalie play.

We saw a lot of goalies. Some big, some small...some quick, some tall. We saw shootout heroics, we saw a kid make 70 saves in a Regional game, and one lead his team to nine straight playoff wins and a state title.

Unfortunately, we never saw a goalie stand on his head or her ear.

Disclaimer: Sort of like a good goalie we fully admit that this list is far from perfect, and every once in a while we don't see every goalie and a great goalie or two may have been overlooked. This list is simply a list of who we saw and played out of this world when we saw them.

The Process

Congratulations to all of the nominees. You had an amazing season. Your recognition here on YHH is likely not the first pat on the back you have received. In the coming weeks, we will sit down and choose a Reebok/CCM Goalie of the Year Winner. The winner will be revealed live on YHH at Stauber's Goal Crease at the end of April.
