Toronto Continues to Roll...beat Team MN 10-1

Day 2 was loaded with exciting games

St. Paul's Luke Hause consoles Team MN Goalie Jacob Fowler after one of the Bulldog goals.

The Toronto Bulldogs kept on rolling through teams, including Team Minnesota Tuesday. Steamrolling the Green Machine 10-1. Four players had two or more goals including Rutger McGroarty who left the Mall with a Hat Collection. Later in the day, the Dawgs needed a McGroarty goal with 18 seconds left to tie the Boston Jr. Bruins and then Charlie Gollob tore the hearts out of the Boston players and fans when he scored 40 seconds into the first OT. It was a critical game, both teams were 2-0 coming into the game. The Bulldogs are in the driver's seat for the first seed in the tough Division 1.

Michael Lastarza and Dylan Roobroeck had a pair of goals for the Dawgs as they scored seven goals in the second and third period.

Team Minnesota suffered through an onslaught of Bulldog rushes and attacks. Going 1-2 to start the tournament does not mean it is over for TM. A 4-2 record is very attainable. Games versus Winnipeg, Boston and BC will be no easy task, but they will not see anyone as tough as they saw Tuesday.

Top Games of the Day

Michael Karvelas scores the GWG in the Shootout for Team California.

Usually we pick a game to highlight. Tuesday featured several including 4 that went extra time and two that were 1 goal thrillers. Here are a few highlights.

Detroit > CT Yankees (4-3, 2OT)...Detroit pulls their Goalie in the 2 v 2 second overtime. The strategy works to perfection, the extra attacker Lane Hutson walks in and fires a bullet past CT standout Goalie Katie Desa for the GWG

BC > Winnipeg (3-2)...Winnipeg led most of the way until BC scored two third period goals putting a damper on Winnipeg's Canada Day. RJ DePaiva went top shelf with 1:37 to go in the game secure the win for the Canucks.

California > Detroit (4-3, Shootout)...Detroit's Michael Messic scored with 53 seconds left to tie the score at 3. He scored on the third rebound on flurry in front of the net with Red Wings Goalie pulled. In the Shootout, Detroit scored first and California missed. But the final two California shooters scored including Michael Karvelas goal to win it in dramatic fashion.

Toronto Bulldogs > Boston Jr. Bruins (4-3, OT)...Charlie Gollob got the Hatty in the most epic fashion. His second came with 18 seconds left to tie it and then 42 seconds into the first overtime he scored to win it...wow!

Teams to Watch

Patrick Thomas gets his celly on in Toronto's 4-0 win over PA.

The standings are starting to fall into place in both divisions.....sort of. In Division 1, the Toronto Bulldogs are in the lead with a 3-0 record. Montreal and Boston seem to be poised for the final six. Don't count out the BC Canucks, they still have games left with the Bruins and the Storm. Division 2 is much more cloudy. Toronto Pro Hockey and Detroit seem to be headed to the final six. Pennsylvania, California and Alberta all have a lot good hockey ahead of them for the final spot.

Big Games Wednesday

(D1) BC Canucks vs. Boston Jr. Bruins (10:50 am)

(D2) Team Alberta vs. Toronto Pro Hockey (12:30 pm)

5 Players to Watch

Vincent Lamberti with one of his 32 saves for Team California.
