With 2 Games to Go, Team MN Holds onto hope for a chance at Final 6
Jacob Fowler the story of the day for Team MN
Team MN had only one game Wednesday and it was against our neighbor to the north, the Winnipeg Jr. Jets. Both teams came in with identical 1-2 records. The way Division 1 was shaping up it was a must win for both team to advance to the final 6 bracket play.
Winnipeg came out flying after a 3-2 comeback morning win over Sask Jr. Pats. After two periods they had outshot Team MN 22-6, but trailed 1-0 on the all important scoreboard. Quinn Schliesman got one past Winnipeg superstar Goalie Ethan Buenaventura midway through the first. But the story of this game was Jacob Fowler from TM, he made save after save of all kinds. Breakaway saves, rebound saves, and even a lucky one or two. Trailing 1-0, the Jets found a loose puck in front of the net and rifled a shot off the crossbar at the buzzer that deflected into the stands!
Early in the third, Edina's Nick Mikan fired a wrist shot through traffic that found the net and gave Minnesota a commanding 2-0 lead. Minnesota held on to win and gave them slim hopes of advancing to the Bracket round later in the week. Fowler ended up the #1 star of the game with 31 saves, including a few in the last two minutes with Buenaventura pulled for an extra attacker.
