Cooper Olson made 41 saves in helping the Crimson to title.
On two consecutive Sundays Minnetonka and Maple Grove qualified for the Velocity 3v3 Championship game. Last week it was the Bantams, this week it was PeeWees. The Skippers came into the final with a loss to Rosemount and the Crimson came in undefeated.
The Crimson got off to a fast start scoring in bunches and doing a good job of keeping Minnetonka's bigger players on the perimeter. The Crimson also counterpunched the Skippers every time they could...getting 2 on 1 breaks, which in turn produced goals.
Up 13-4 with 12 minutes to go, the Crimson put it on cruise control. That is when Griffin Streeter had a burst. Scoring three goals in 41 seconds...one on a penalty shot and two more quick strike breakaways. Down by six, Minnetonka sensed they still had a chance...that is when Maple Grove took their car off of auto pilot and went back to what made them successful all tournament long. Stop the other team, counterpunch with precision. They held Tonka scoreless the last 6 minutes and added two insurance goals for the title.
