YHH tabs 21 Winners and 6 Must See Games this Weekend

Thanksgiving Tourneys kick off the new Season

Thanksgiving is the unofficial beginning to the Youth Hockey season in Minnesota. Yes, games have started in both PeeWees and Bantams for a month now, and yes, the Squirts have also played a few. But Thanksgiving usually brings in a little cold weather, grandparents to a game or two, and most of all some great hockey tournaments. This weekend we double down and make 21 Thanksgiving predictions. One side prediction is we will see some upsets. Some teams will eat too much Turkey and some won't eat enough and come out hungry on Friday. It happens every year. Should be a fun weekend.

Six games to Watch

There are several great pool play games to see on Friday and Saturday.  Some are "too good" if you ask YHH. Here are six must see games:

1. Squirt A: Woodbury vs. Eden Prairie. Arguably two of the top 5 teams in Minnesota face off in the first round of the Hopkins Tournament Friday night in what is likely the Championship Game.

2. PeeWee AA: Osseo Maple Grove vs. Edina. Yes the #1 and #2 teams in Minnesota are paired in the same pool in Eden Prairie. Bad for those two teams, good for the fans.

3. PeeWee A: Orono vs. Edina. Two of the top four teams in the state clash Friday morning for a spot in the Championship Bracket play.

4. U12A: Andover vs. Wayzata. Two great teams. Andover won a month ago 3-0. This one should be a dandy in Edina.

5. Bantam AA: Lakeville North vs. Minneapolis. The two highest ranked teams in the 12 team field face off Friday morning in the Burnsville Tournament.

6. Bantam AA: Minnetonka vs. Centennial. Centennial and Tonka are both consensus top five teams, this should be an instant classic on Saturday morning in Eden Prairie.
