PeeWee B attempts to clear the air, Grand Rapids BAA and EP "A" Tourney guesses

OMG Winter Face Off

Edina Green speedster Johnny Buenz, pictured last year, could play a big role for the Green Hornets this weekend.

Each year, especially this year, the OMG Winter Face Off draws the top PeeWee B teams in the area to face off for one trophy. Thirty Two teams from all over the metro, plus teams from Wisconsin, Iowa, Ontario and Manitoba. Besides Edina Green and White, the next eight teams in the PeeWee B top 10 is a toss up...EVERY Week. YHH hopes that the Face Off can settle some scores. With 4 top ten teams Edina Green (#2), Minnetonka (#4), Orono White (#6), Hastings (#10) and several others with their eye on the T10...Woodbury (Black), Bloomington Jefferson, Chaska Chan, and OMG Black..the field promises to shake out the men from the boys.

Black Pool: Coon Rapids, Eastview, Forest Lake, Hastings, New Richmond, OMG Black, Rogers, and St. Louis Park.

Crimson Pool: Ames, Anoka, Apple Valley, Champlin Park, Lakeville South, Minnetonka, Rochester (White), and Wayzata (Blue)

Gold Pool: Andover, Bloomington Jefferson, Dakota Lazers, Edina B2, MAML, Mounds View Irondale (Black), Orono (White), and Stillwater

Orange Pool: Centennial, Chaska-Chanhassen, Edina (Green), Farmington, KC Sportop, Lakeville North, Rochester (Black) and Woodbury (Black)

Final 4

Edina Green > OMG (Black), Orono (White) > Minnetonka

Edina Green > Orono (White)

Grand Rapids Star of the North Bantam AA

Blake Mcluaghlin will be the star in this weekend's Star of the North Tourney at IRA Civic Center in Grand Rapids

A great field with some good variety of teams representing seven Districts of MN Hockey. The pools are well balanced with at least one team from each pool that is in or has been in the YHH T10.

Pool A: Grand Rapids, Eastview, St. Cloud, and Anoka
Pool B: STMA, Blaine, Grand Forks, and Roseau
Pool C: Bloomington Jefferson, Sibley, Duluth East, and Minneapolis Storm.

Each pool winner will be tested at least once and the Wild Card team who gains the final four will have some tread missing from their tires as they enter the Semifinals Saturday night.

The Call

Pool A = Grand Rapids Pool B = STMA Pool C = Jefferson Wild Card = Grand Forks

Semifinals

Grand Rapids > Grand Forks, STMA > Jefferson

Finals

Grand Rapids > STMA

Eden Prairie Winter Classic, Bantam and PeeWee A

Lily Delianedes and Edina A will win the EP Winter Classic on Sunday

PeeWees

Black Pool: Eden Prairie, Elk River, Andover, and Centennial
Red Pool: Edina, Tartan, Eagan AA, and Mound Westonka

Easily the worst pooling in the history of youth hockey. First, the home slant is egregious. Number 1 Edina, T10 Tartan and Mound Westonka, followed by Eagan AA. That is bad, like '15 Moose Goheen Bantam AA bad. But to add insult to insult, they paired Elk River, Andover and Centennial in the same pool. All from District 10. "C'mon Man!"

Final 4

Edina > Eden Prairie, Tartan > Andover
Edina > Tartan

Edina's Aaron Frenkel will likely be in the winner's circle Sunday in Eden Prairie

Bantams

Black: Eden Prairie, OMG, Mound Westonka, Park Cottage Grove
Red: Edina, Wayzata, Sartell, and White Bear Lake

More home slanted pairings here. Wayzata, Sartell, and Edina are T10 teams...all in the Red Pool. One will have to miss out on Bracket play Sunday.

Final 4

Edina > Mound Westonka, Sartell > Park Cottage Grove
Edina > Sartell
