A quick post as the state tourneys wind down, Minnesota Hockey first District Tourney in years will be played next week, March 10-12 at the Super Rink in Blaine.  The tourney pits Shattuck/St. Mary's U16 and Prep (U18) teams against before and after teams with the tourney winners advancing to play in the USA National Tourney at the end of March.  Shattuck's prep team is generally the favorite at the National tourney; their U16 team is always very competitive.  The Sabres will be playing Minnesota AAA organizational "before and after" teams composed hockey players who have just finished their high school seasons.  This could be the one and only tourney for the organizational teams.  Minnesota Hockey has announced plans to replace the organizational teams with those formed from players picked by Minnesota Hockey.
