Judd Caulfield scores for the Stars Sunday

The Devils beat the league leading Lightning 5-1 Sunday morning at Bloomington Ice Garden. With their win they take sole possession of first place in the Bantam Elite League.

Brady Baker scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Red and Black to the win. Baker, who was a late addition to the team this Spring from Hermantown, is third on the team in scoring with 10 points. Ryan Ullan continues to be a star in the nets for the Devils, he stopped 20 of 21 shots in the win.

The key play in the first half came right after the Bolts had narrowed the Devils lead to 2-1. Charlie Schoen beat Ullan, but he could not beat the goal post - fifteen seconds later Brendan Baker came down and scored for the Devils to make it 3-1 in favor of the Devils.

The Devils will go for the weekend sweep Sunday afternoon when they take on the Wild. The Wild are the only Metro team that has beaten the Devils this year.

The North Stars beat the Flyers 4-1 Sunday morning at Bloomington Ice Garden, moving their record to 3-0 on the weekend. Zak Justice had a goal and an assist to lead them to the win. While goalies Kaleb Johnson and Lemuel Carradice combined to stop 19 of 20 shots for the boys from Northwest Minnesota.

After Justice scored to give the Stars a 1-0 lead, the Flyers answered back on a pretty one timer by Ryan Antonakis to tie it 1-1. Twenty six seconds later, Judd Caulfield answered for the Stars, he tapped in a goal on a pretty pass from Brainerd's Gavin Andres to give the Stars the lead for good.

After the two teams agreed to skip the resurface between halves, the Stars jumped all over the Flyers. Ben Doherty beat Flyers Goalie Jacob Gathje on his glove side to give the Stars a 3-1 lead and Tanner Mack popped in a rebound goal to ice it for the Green and Black. Mack's goal came after Ethan Frisch fired a rocket off the post that fell onto the stick of the East Grand Forks native Mack and he cleaned it up nicely.

The Stars will go for the 4-0 sweep and a shot at either first or second in the league depending on how their Northern neighbors the Devils fare.

The Devils beat the Wild 3-2 Sunday afternoon to jump to the top of the Bantam Elite standings. Ryan Ullan had 21 saves and Andy Acers scored the game winning goal to lift the Devils to a perfect 4-0 record over the weekend.

After falling behind 2-1 in the second half, the Devils got a goal from Dane Stoyanoff, nearly a carbon copy of their first goal of the day by Peter Hansen - a high shot from the point that hit traffic in front to tie it. Five minutes later, with the game in the balance and both teams battling Andy Acers tipped in a loose puck in front to beat Evan Foss for the game winner.

Foss and his partner Ben Fritsinger faced 32 shots and made some remarkable saves to keep the free wheeling Wild in the game. On the other end, Ryan Ullan was superb in the net stopping nearly everything.

The Wild up their record to 8-2 and sit in the top position heading into their final four games in St. Cloud in two weeks.

The Kings beat the Stars 5-4 on Sunday in the Bantam Elite League at Bloomington Ice Garden. Nick Davison and Jared Anderson each had a goal and an assist to help lift the Kings out last place in the league.

After going up 2-0, the Stars Maverick got a goal that ping ponged past two defenders into the Kings net to make it 2-1. But thirteen seconds later, Davison scored on a backhand rebound to make it 3-1.

The Stars would not quit, they got it o 3-2 on a Judd Caulfield goal, but like the first half, the Kings would answer on a Lucas Wahlin goal to make it 4-2. And for the third time the teams would score seconds apart. This time Ben Helgeson for the Stars folllowed five seconds later by Zach Anderson from the Kings. Gavin Andres would add a late goal for the Stars with the goalie pulled - but they could not get the equalizer and the Kings escaped with the win.
