The '04 Pens never gave up Sunday in their 4-3 loss
The Ignite the Ice tournament was held at Braemar and Plymouth this past weekend for seven age levels 2001 through 2007. On Sunday there were some crazy semifinal and championship games at all seven levels. Here are recaps of the games and a few pics we were able to grab.
The Minnesota Playmakers won the very competitive Ignite the Ice 2001 tournament over the weekend at Plymouth. The Playmakers avenged a pool play loss on Sunday beating the Fusion 2-0. Josh Davis turned away 26 shots to get the win for the Playmakers. Centennial's Scottie Nelson got the game winner in the second period for the Playmakers.
The Green Wave got their first win of the tourney Sunday beating the Fighting Saints for third. The Saints beat runner up Fusion on Saturday 2-0.

Blake Stafford scores for Madison Sunday
The 2003 Midwest Muskies won the Ignite the Ice Sunday with a 4-2 win over the Madison Capitols. It was a very fast paced game, both teams had a lot of great chances to score and win. Madison got out to an early lead when Blake Stafford scored for the Caps on a pretty snipe.
The Muskies would answer with three goals in six minutes, two by Marcus Miller to take a commanding 3-1 lead after the first period. The second period was more back and forth action, Adam King would get the lone goal to extend the Muskie lead to 4-1 after two.
The action heated up in the third when Madison scored an apparent goal to cut the Muskie lead to two. Dodge County's Brody Lamb knocked a puck out of mid-air, but it was ruled no goal for high sticking. Minutes later, Alex Ramirez made a big breakaway save for the Muskies on a Connor Scnheider breakaway attempt. Lamb would add a late goal for the Capitols to make final score 4-2.

Tommy Chicago 2004
Tommy Chicago won the '04 Ignite the Ice 4-3 over the Penguins Sunday at Braemar. Cameron Johnston and Emmett McIntosh each had a goal and an assist for Tommy's in the win. After jumping out to a 4-1 lead in the second period, the Pens slowly fought back to cut the lead to 4-3 on a goal by Tyler Cords with 10:11 left in the third period. Both teams battled for the next goal but both goalies Ethan Dauk (Pens) and Dixon Ehlers (Tommy's) came up big.
Late in the game, with the goalie pulled, the Pens applied pressure. John Kisch got loose in the wide slot and fired a point blank shot on net and Ehlers made the stop with 2.3 seconds left to preserve the win for Tommy's.

Connor Wavrin scored three goals for the Euro Americans as they won 4-1 over Miracle Black to claim the Ignite the Ice title Sunday at Plymouth Ice Center. The Euros spotted Miracle a goal in the first period and then scored four in a row to claim the title. Wavrin's hat trick was a natural hatty (three in a row) scoring one in the second and two in the third. Ethan Halligan added a goal and an assist for the Euros who went 0-3 in pool play and then ripped off two straight wins over the #1 seed Mustangs on Sunday morning and the #2 seed Black in the afternoon.

Josh Toll had two goals and two assists for Tommy's and Finn Zaruba pitched in a pair of goals for the winners. The Euros hung tough early, trailing only 2-1 after the first period. But Tommy's exploded for three goals in three minutes to basically put the game out of reach.
Cale Braid had two goals and an assist for the Euros in a losing effort. Euros finished the weekend going 2-2-1 in five games, with both losses at the hands of the champs.
