Tyson Bjornerud scores on penalty shot for Bemidji Saturday
Woodbury and Edina advanced to the semifinals Saturday with exciting shootout wins, two games that ended minutes apart. The Predators got big stops from goalie Marko Belak and a goal from Nick Landin to win it. The Hornets clinched their berth with a win over Hermantown when Bryce Hess stopped back to back Hermantown shooters for the W.
Osseo Maple Grove and Chaska Chan will face each other in the second semi-final Saturday with carbon copy three goal wins. The Leafbirds were paced by a goal and an assist from Wyatt Olson and strong play up front from Landen Gunderson and William Matzke. The Stormhawks fought off a feisty Moorhead team who tied the score at 2-2, before they were able to pull away with three consecutive goals to close out the Spuds.

Like the swallows returning to Capistrano Beach, Edina and Maple Grove return each year to the Big Pumpkin final. For the third straight season, the Hornets and Leafbirds will face off at the Youth rink in Moorhead for the Pumpkin title. Both won their games Saturday night over quality opponents to advance.
Edina won its second game in as many games in a shootout, this time over Woodbury - Ricky Nelson iced the game with a backhander that beat Woodbury standout goalie Marko Belak for the W.
Osseo Maple Grove took out Chaska Chanhassen 6-0. Nathan Jaglo had two huge goals for OMG, the first a top shelf snipe that gave the Leafbirds a 2-0 lead and his second iced the game giving them a 4-0 lead. The two teams will face off Sunday at 1:30 in the rubber match.
The B and B connection - Austin Brauns and Marko Belak combined for a complete game plus shutout for Andover and Woodbury Saturday. Both made big saves in regulation and OT.
Jimmy Clark, Edina - assisted all four goals and scored the GWG with an amazing five hole move for the Hornets.
William Matzke, Osseo Maple Grove - fierce power forward controlled the game with his speed and intensity.
Jimmy Snuggerud, Chaska/Chan - displayed amazing hands and a wicked shot Saturday for the Stormhawks.
Cooper Warrington, Edina - big body that makes big plays - major upside potential.
