PWAA: Prior Lake 6, Wayzata 3
Prior Lake never likes winning to appear too easy.
Taking a 5-0 lead over Wayzata after two periods wasn't exciting enough for the Lakers, who allowed the Trojans to score three unanswered goals in the third period, but then killed multiple penalties and scored an empty-netter to emerge with a 6-3 win.
Alexandar Lexnar, Sam Rice, Riley Dueber and Dalton Spratt all scored in the five-goal barrage for the Lakers, with Spratt netting two tallies.
Wayzata answered with goals from Cashen Naeve, Gavin O'Connell and Mason Moree, before Prior Lake's Rice iced the game with the empty-net goal.
Riley Dueber scores for Prior Lake in the Lakers' 6-3 win over Wayzata.
BAA: White Bear Lake 3, Grand Forks 1
A sluggish game from both teams could be contributed to hard-fought games played earlier in the day, but White Bear Lake came out on top with a 3-1 victory.
Sam Newpower scored the Bears' second goal and added the empty-net insurance goal with just one second remaining on the clock.
William Howard scored the lone goal for Grand Forks in the loss.
White Bear Lake held off Grand Forks to win the First Test of the Best Bantam AA title.
10UA: Stillwater 5, Orono-Westonka 3
Stillwater jumped out to a 2-0 lead, then held off Orono-Westonka to claim the 10UA title of Edina's Cake Eater Classic with a 5-3 win.
Brooke Nelson and Alexa March put the Ponies ahead 2-0 in the first period, with Nelson's goal coming on a slick backhand shot from halfway behind the net.
Este Ryskamp got Orono-Westonka on the board early in the second, but Nelson tacked on her second goal to keep the Ponies ahead by two. Ryskamp and Alexa Niccum scored for O-W to close out the second period with the score tied 3-3.
Josie St. Martin scored the eventual game-winner for the Ponies, and Ava Mosley added an insurance goal to cement the win.
Brooke Nelson scores one of her two goals on Sunday.
