It only took ten seconds for Nicky Leivermann to complete Eden Prairie's tour of the northland with a two-game sweep.
Leivermann dumped the puck in on the Duluth East net in the opening moments of overtime, only to have his shot tip off Hounds' goaltender Kirk Meierhoff's glove and into the net to give his Eagles (9-4-2) the 3-2 win on Saturday night at the Duluth Heritage Sports Center.
"He's probably either the best of second-best shooter on our team for sure," Eden Prairie head coach Lee Smith said of Leivermann after the win.
Leivermann scored two goals for the Eagles, ranked No. 8 in the latest YHH Staff Rankings, with fellow senior Jarod Blackowiak scoring the other.
Junior Austin Jouppi and sophomore Jack Fitzgerald each scored once in the loss for the Hounds (8-5-1).

The pair of wins over the weekend, including 3-1 victory over Cloquet-Esko-Carlton on Friday, could give the Eagles some momentum heading into the second half of the season.
"I just think we needed some time to practice," Smith said of the team's turnaround after a lackluster stretch.
"We had all these games during break," Smith continued.
"We had eight games in sixteen days and they were grueling games."
The Eagles faced a slew of highly-rated teams in that set of games, playing St. Thomas Academy, Hill-Murray, Edina and Centennial.
Smith said that his team will look to build on its recent three-game winning streak when it faces another pair of tough games coming up.
"Next week we've got Edina and Stillwater," Smith explained, adding that the time away from Eden Prairie gives the Eagles a chance to bond on the road.
"It's a good chance to go up here and be together and get ready to focus in on next week."
