First SOT was a Big Hit

Chaz Lucius wins MVP of 2003 Boys

In our first year of the Stars of Tomorrow, we didn't know exactly what to expect. Hosting a tournament in a crowded space of all-star events and Spring break - we were a little nervous if we could pull off a great event with great players. When you have so many great players in Minnesota and a proven formula for successful events we knew the event was going to be good.

In hindsight it turned out great.

With a few top players missing, it gave some new faces to the crowd a chance to shine. We got to see Mitchell Vanderway from Thunder Bay at the '06 level show off his speed and ability to win big face-offs. We got to see some great new faces in the crowd like Dylan Otten and Hunter Boeckmann at the '07 and '08 level. And, we also got to see some familiar faces like Chaz Lucius and Dylan Godbout. Those two had big weekends and had a chance to celebrate a championship.

Oh Brother

There were all kinds of brothers in the first SOT. Some twins (Willettes from EP), some not but on the same team (Lucius boys) and a ton of older/younger combinations - Arnold, Bydal, Fechko, Searles and Tacheny off the top of our head. Chaz and Cruz Lucius took home the family scoring title with 25 points...the Fechkos (Trey and Marcus) weren't far behind with 13...Marcus lead the '05s with six points, including an OT game winner Saturday to send his team to the championship.

Peyton hits paydirt

Peyton Hemp had a big weekend for the '03 West notching 11 points on six goals and five assists. She used her speed and great balance to keep defenders at bay while she repeatedly produced scoring opportunities for the West.

Meghan be good

Centennial's Meghan Goodreau had a great weekend for the West...she was named MVP for her performance scoring a goal in every game including one in the championship that helped lead her team the title.
