Grey Areas

Team Grey left its mark on the full-ice session portion of the NOW Prospects Combine, downing Team Maroon 7-1 to cap an undefeated week at Mariucci Arena.

The skaters in Grey would continue their dominance as the action moved east to the LumberYard in Stillwater, as both Grey 1 and Grey 2 scored wins over Gold 1 and Maroon 2 respectively by a combined score of 39-16.

Stillwater's LumberYard will be the site of the Combine for the next two days, as players will have their skills and strength tested and recorded Saturday morning and continue the fast-paced and highly entertaining three-on-three games.

Zachary Boren scores one of his three goals in 3-on-3 Friday action.

Grey 7, Maroon 1

Lucky Bischoff racked up a Texas Hatty and added an assist to pace Team Grey to its third win in three tries in the final on-ice game for both teams.

Joining Bischoff in the scoring spree for Team Grey was Tommy Cronin, Blayne Mortenson and Tanner Ludtke.

Tysen Loeffler scored the lone goal of the morning for Team Maroon.

Gold 4, White 3

In one of the more entertaining games of the full-ice sessions, Team Gold managed to hold off an inspired Team White and its valiant effort at the end of the game to earn the win.

Maxwell Roby scored the game-winner for Team Gold, banging in a rebound off a Sawyer Seidl slapshot that clanged off the crossbar late in the second half. Seidl added a goal for Team Gold, as did Beck Picconatto and Matthew Whisler.

Hunter Hady, Caden Morgan and Dawson McCann each scored once in the loss for Team White.

When Sawyer Seidl lets one fly, you get out of the way.

Smaller Ice, Bigger Scores

The shrunken ice sheet used in three-on-three play lends itself to seesaw offensive battled, in which the goaltender is a physical casualty for both sides.

These traits were evident in the first slate of games played at the LumberYard, as teams racked up an impressive 125 goals in just four contests.

Grey 1 and Grey 2 cruised to wins on Friday, as did White 2 and Gold 2.

Kyle Ahlschlager totaled five goals for Grey 1 in its win over Maroon 2.
