Major Combine kicks off at Mariucci

Two days after their younger counterparts finished their own turn on the NOW Prospects Combine carousel, the Major division fires up with a repeat of the schedule from the Minor slate of activities.

After a full-ice practice, with two teams sharing the ice, the players were privileged enough to be a part of a seminar on nutrition and training.

Assistant Director of Athletic Performance Corey Petersen took each group of players through the oft-overlooked world of warmups and cool-downs, the importance of stretching, and what your plate should look like for each meal.

The teams hit the ice for a pair of games split into two halves, where the players were able to finally stretch their competitive wings.

Team Grey outlasted Team Gold by a score of 4-1, and Team Maroon posted a 4-0 shutout of Team White in the second game of the doubleheader.

Anthony Madigan was all over the ice for Team Gold this afternoon.

Aiden Welch scored two goals and added an assist for Team Grey in the win, while goaltending tandem Ethan Dahlmeir and Trent Wiemken stopped over 30 shots to hold a talented Team Gold squad to just one goal.

Cole Spicer and Connor Kurth each added goals for Team Grey, while Isaac Howard scored the lone goal for Team Gold.

Cole Spicer a goal and an assist on Wednesday.

Team Maroon cruised to a 4-0 victory over Team White, scoring twice in each half to start its Combine 1-0.

In a show of balance, Team Maroon had four players score goals in the win, with Ryan Chesley, Hayden Johnson, Kash Kindgren and Nick Pierre all marking the scoresheet.

Trent Stansberry recorded two assists in the win as Cole Sitar and Alex Juenke combined for the shutout between the pipes.

Hayden Johnson recorded a goal in Wednesday's win.

Owen Hendrikson played solid defense for Team White on Wednesday.

Players to Watch

Ryan Chesley, Team Maroon

A defenseman with excellent puck movement skills, Chesley is also capable of scoring from the blue line.

Trey Ausmus, Team Gold

Rock-solid defender who leads the breakout at the level of expert.

Tyler Kotzmacher, Team White

Good luck keeping up with Kotzmacher, who's speed and stickhandling make him a nuisance for opposing teams.

Connor Kurth, Team Grey

If YHH has learned anything over the years, it's that Kurth will find some way to score thanks to a quick release and buzzing shot.
