Nick Pierre ended Saturday with 27 goals in just three games.
Buoyed by a 21-goal day from Nick Pierre, Maroon 1 exploded to the front of the three-on-three standings, posting big wins over Gold 1 and Grey 2 on Saturday.
Pierre's scoring outburst should not have been a surprise, considering his performance during the morning's skills assessment. Pierre ranked first among Combine participants in a number of categories, including 5-10-5 shuttle, frontwards on-ice acceleration, and both wristshot and slapshot categories.
Pierre recorded a slapshot of 78 MPH, tied for second-highest in the Combine's three-year history with Sawyer Seidl of the 2017 NOW Prospect Minor Combine.
Grady Godwin also had a good showing during the skills assessment, leading all participants in backwards on-ice acceleration and posting a top speed of 47 MPH on a backhand shot.
After the skills testing, the players played a more-than-full slate of games, with Maroon 1 and White 1 emerging on top and taking their place in the title game.
Gold 1 and Maroon 2 will square off in the third-place game, while Grey 2 and Gold 2 face each other and White 2 takes on Grey 1 in consolation games to start the morning.
Jackson Skyberg nets a goal on Saturday.
