PUT THE SHARKS ON THE BOARD

Discovery Channel's "Shark Week" has been over for two weeks now, but the Bantam Elite League version of the underwater predator has apparently started smelling blood.

The titans in teal notched their first win of the BEL season on Wednesday night, scoring three unanswered goals in the second half to pull away from the league-leading Kings in a 5-2 win.

Despite taking a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by Luke Hamp and Bjorn Franke, the Sharks found themselves knotted at 2-2 entering halftime, as the Kings' Chase Beacom and Ethan Lund scored less than one minute apart to end the first frame.

Jonathon Peine scored the eventual game-winner for the Sharks midway through the second, and the other half of the white-mask duo Drew Holt sealed the win with two goals of his own, earning Player of the Game honors in the process.

In the second game of the evening, the Bruins mounted an impressive comeback, erasing a two-goal deficit after the first half and emerging victorious after a thrilling shootout by a score of 7-6.

Joe Miller and Jonston Meiers were heroes of the one-on-ones for the Bruins, scoring back-to-back goals to clinch the win while Hobie Hedquist stood tall in the nets.

The Blackhawks jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first half of play thanks in large part to a five-minute man-advantage, in which Chaz Lucius and Conner Willard each scored.

Willard finished the game with two goals, with Lucius, Connor Kurth, Nicholas Sajevic and John Hartle scoring once each.

Meiers and Chris Kernan each scored twice for the Bruins, with single goals added by Dylan Lewis and Tristan Broz.

Drew Holt's two goals on Wednesday bring his BEL total to six, tops on the Sharks.
