The Hornets showcased a deep and talented lineup in Saturday's scrimmage.

Hornets Shut Out Huskies

Scrimmages give coaches and teams a chance to stretch their legs, fiddle with line combinations, and tinker with the power play and penalty kill units.

After Saturday's scrimmage win over Andover, it does not appear that the Edina Peewee AA team has much stretching, fiddling, or tinkering to do.

The Hornets swooped, skated and stung throughout Saturday's contest, scoring in each period en route to a 9-0 win over the Huskies. Jimmy Clark led the scoring barrage with two goals and four points.

Clark's outburst was complemented by two goals from Matt Vander Vort and one tally each from Charlie Hoch, Caden Morgan, Barrett Dexheimer, Nick Mork and Tommy Cronin.

Dexheimer and Mork kicked off the scoring for the Hornets, with each goal coming in the first period and touching off what would be an impressive offensive display with seven goals over the next two frames.

Goaltenders Brennan Chapman and Robert Clarkowski stood tall in the nets for the Hornets to earn the shutout.

Jimmy Clark scored two goals and added two assists on Saturday for Edina.

Players to Watch

Gavyn Thoreson, Andover

Despite the final score, Thoreson's skating ability and smooth stickhandling stood out for the Huskies.

Mikey Mason, Edina

A puck-moving defender with a knack for finding the open player with the man-advantage.

Jimmy Clark, Edina

Clark does it all for the Hornets, whether that means rushing the puck from end-to-end or disrupting the opponent's breakout.

Maddie Kaiser, Andover

If Saturday was any indication, Kaiser will be a nuisance for any opponent due to her dogged work in the offensive zone. Paired well with Thoreson on the penalty kill.

Brennan Chapman and Robert Clarkowski, Edina

Both netminders had a solid game for the Hornets, and when you blank a quality team like Andover, you must be doing something right.

Maddie Kaiser could be an offensive force for the Huskies this season.
