Can Osseo-Maple Grove win titles in back-to-back tournaments?

Jay Ellingson is one of several players that could stand out for Osseo-Maple Grove in the PWAA division this weekend.

Because It's the (Lumberjack) Cup

This weekend, a gaggle of talented Peewee AA and Peewee A players will descend on the border between Minnesota and Wisconsin for the annual Lumberjack Cup, hosted by the Stillwater Youth Hockey Association.

Along with the high level of talent sure to be on display, there are questions at the PWAA level that will be answered over the next four days.

Can Osseo-Maple Grove maintain its hot streak after winning the Spirit of Duluth? Will the depth of Woodbury win out and earn the Predators their second title of the season? Can Stillwater continue its winning ways after taking 11 of its last 12 games?

Nothing is any clearer in the PWA division. Stillwater hasn’t lost since a Nov. 3 defeat at the hands of Hudson (WI), and have gone 9-0-1 since. Chaska/Chanhassen is 17-2-3 on the year. Osseo-Maple Grove is coming off a loss to Minneapolis, but still boasts one of the deepest teams in the field.

There won’t be any answers until Sunday evening, so strap in for the bumpy and exciting ride that is the Lumberjack Cup.

Ty Henricks of Woodbury could be a key player this weekend for the Predators.
