After the first day of the 2018 Youth Hockey Hub Squirtacular, 19 teams remain undefeated between the Squirt A and Squirt B divisions, with 11 SQA squads emerging unscathed after Friday’s slate of games and eight SQB teams taking spotless credentials into Saturday.
Rogers, Minnetonka, Orono, Chaska/Chanhassen, Stillwater, and Osseo-Maple Grove White all earning a pair of wins on Friday. Osseo-Maple Grove Crimson, Green Bay, Rochester, Edina Green, and White Bear Lake make up a surprising number of teams with records of 1-0-1.
Leading the scoring race in the Squirt A Division are Mason Jenson of Rogers and Junior Podein of St. Louis Park. Jenson totaled 13 points in two games on Friday, totaling six goals and seven assists. Podein recorded three tallies and seven helpers for a total of 10 points.
In the Squirt B Division, Rogers, Arizona Jr. Coyotes, Stillwater, Osseo-Maple Grove Black, Wayzata, Prior Lake Navy, Edina White, and Rosemount take 2-0 records into the next round, with Rogers sitting atop the overall standings.
The Royals posted shutouts in both games, defeating Eastview Blue 11-0 and Edina Gold 3-0. Parker Deschene was a human-highlight reel in the win over Mahtomedi, racking up five goals in the win for the Royals. Joe Spades added his own impressive performance in the Squirt B Division for Edina White, tallying four goals in the Hornets’ 7-2 win over Champlin Park.
