Edina at Andover (Nov. 12, 2:00 PM)

Hannah Halverson, Edina

Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Yogi Berra once said, "it's deja vu all over again," which might be an excellent way to describe this matchup against two perennial state title contenders. Andover hopes to repeat as Class AA state champions, and Edina hopes it can unseat the Huskies in what could be a preview of another showdown at the state tourney.

The Hornets lost Division-I bound Jane Kuehl (Princeton), Haley Maxwell (St. Thomas), and Ms. Hockey Award winner Vivian Jungels (Wisconsin). However, they return seniors Ellie Chapman and Lauren Zawoyski, plus junior Hannah Halverson (Wisconsin commit), who was the second leading scorer last year to give the Hornets a scoring punch at forward.

Senior Sami Hankinson and junior Taylor Porthan (Connecticut commit) will be tested on defense to see if they can shut down Andover's waves of offense. In goal, senior Uma Corniea (Princeton commit) is back and hopes to finish her final season as a Hornet on a high note.

Andover returns just about everyone from last year's championship team, including senior forwards Ella Boerger (St. Thomas commit), Maddie Brown (St. Thomas commit), and Isabel Goettl (Minnesota commit). The trio combined for 84 goals last season, accounting for nearly 52% of the Huskies' scoring.

On defense, junior Cailin Mumm and sophomores Mackenzie Jones and Courtney Little give the Huskies great depth. Senior goaltender Courtney Stagman (Saint Anselm-commit) returns after going 27-0 a season ago.
