Luverne at Minnesota River 11/19 (3 PM)

This game pits two young teams as Section 2A Minnesota River battles Section 3A Luverne as they fight for supremacy in the southern portion of the state.  

Luverne is led at forward by senior Kamryn Van Batavia (Minnesota State commit, 2-1-3), who is trying to set a state record for career goals. She is joined by her sister Ellisyn Van Batavia (1-0-1), a seventh-grader, and sophomore Peyton Behr (0-1-1). The Cardinals are a young team utilizing six eighth-graders on its varsity roster. Senior Mallory Nelson (1-0-1) leads a young group on defense, with eighth-grader Rylee Kurtz (0-1-1) showing promise early. At goaltender, senior Mallory Von Tersch (.962 SV%) performed well in her lone start of the season.   

Minnesota River's attack is led by eighth-graders Makenna Andresen (3-1-4) and Noelle Simonette (1-1-2), as well as freshman Macy Portner (1-1-2) and junior Makenna Mueller (1-1-2). The Bulldogs are dressing seven freshmen on their team. On defense, senior Sofie Wilson (0-2-2) and freshman Shaylan Dunphy (1-0-1) will do what they can to try to limit the Cardinals' scoring chances. Freshman goaltender Annika Magelee has made both starts for Minnesota River this season.
