Simley at Warroad (Nov. 26, 3 PM)

Mackayla McGown, Simley

Last year, the Simley Spartans were perhaps one of the bigger surprises in Class A, and they are determined to make some noise in Section 4A again. Meanwhile, the Warriors are coming off a state title and look to be in great shape to repeat. Will they overlook the Spartans when they make their way up to Hockeytown?

The Spartans are coming off an 11-0 rout of Chisago Lakes. Simley is led at forward by seniors Ella Tuccitto (4-8-12) and Mackaylan McGown (4-8-12), as well as junior Kelsi Ries (5-3-8). On defense, senior Skyler Arneson (0-1-1) and sophomore Courtney Kurowski (1-0-0) will have their work cut out for them trying to slow down the Warriors' offense. At goaltender, sophomore Sydney Ries (.904 save percentage) will likely get the start against Warroad.

Warroad rolled to an 18-0 victory against East Grand Forks. The Warriors are led at forward by seniors Rylee Bartz (11-5-16), Kate Johnson (4-9-13), and Talya Hendrickson (3-11-14).

On defense, seniors Abby Chamernick (0-6-6) and Lila Lanctot (2-2-4) will try to help Warroad transition efficiently from defense to offense. At goaltender, freshman Jordyn Werk (.900 save percentage) and senior Northern Lakes transfer Kate Stephens (.923 save percentage) have split starts this season.
