Moorhead at Andover (Dec. 2, 7:00 PM)

Aaron Reierson, Moorhead

Who doesn't enjoy a good rematch? The Spuds and Huskies will meet for the first time since facing one another at the Class AA quarterfinals last spring. The Huskies prevailed last year on their way to a championship. Will that happen again this time?

The Spuds are hoping to build from the momentum of a 2-0 victory over Edina during Thanksgiving weekend.

Moorhead is led up front by seniors Aaron Reierson (3-0-3) and Ian Ness (0-1-1), as well as 6'3" junior Jace Blythe (0-1-1) lead a talented but youthful group of forwards like sophomores Mason Kraft (0-2-2) and Brooks Cullen.

On the blueline, the Spuds will lean on the experience of seniors Joe Kortan (1-0-1) and Jack Arnold (0-1-1) as Moorhead uses its defense to transition quickly and efficiently from its own end. Sophomore defenseman Garrett Lindberg is a rising star for the Spuds. Junior goaltender Kai Weigel (.955 save percentage) will likely get the start against the Huskies.

Andover, last year's Class AA state champion endured an early season setback in a 4-1 loss to Minnetonka last weekend. The Huskies are led at forward by seniors Gavyn Thoreson (St. Cloud State commit), Cooper Conway (Colorado College commit), and Cayden Casey (St. Lawrence commit), giving Andover a formidable top line.

On defense, juniors Caiden Belisle (1-1-2) and Brooks Cogswell (0-1-1) will do their best to replace the void left by the graduations of Weston Knox and Kyle Law.

Andover has split starts between sophomore Cal Conway (.882 save percentage) and senior Beau Altman (.919 save percentage) this season.
