Cretin-Derham Hall vs. Hermantown (Dec. 2, 8:00 PM)

Colton Jamieson, Cretin-Derham Hall

Highly-ranked Class AA private school faces top-ranked Class A school in an early season tournament. It should be a blowout, right?

Not quite, but last year the two clubs met one another, and the Raiders came out on top 4-2. Will that happen again this season as they face one another as part of the Champions Cup held in Eden Prairie?

The Raiders are coming off a 4-2 loss to arch-rival St. Thomas Academy last weekend.

At forward, seniors Jake Fisher (Northern Michigan commit) and Attila Lippai (St. Thomas commit) will drive Cretin-Derham Hall's offense.

On defense, senior Colton Jamieson (St. Thomas commit) leads a young group of defensemen like sophomores Jimmy Dodig and Domnic Kopp, where they hope to keep their penalty kill operating at 100%.

Junior goaltender Leo Miller (.885 save percentage) will likely get the start against the Hawks.

The Hawks have yet to play a game this season, and they will be without super-skilled brothers Max and Zam Plante, who are honing their game with the National Development Team and Chicago Steel of the USHL, respectively.

Don't feel too bad for last year's Class A state champions, as they return with a strong team led by senior forwards Kade Kohanski and Dallas Vieau (Penn State commit).

Hermantown's defense lost Ty Hanson and Beau Janzig to graduation, but they still return experience in senior George Peterson and junior Will Esterbrooks.

Between the pipes, Hermantown junior goaltender Dane Calloway returns to assume his starting role. Senior goaltender Garron Opsahl is also an option.
