Rogers at Andover (Dec. 8, 7:00 PM)

Sam Ranallo, Rogers

No. 2-ranked Rogers will have another opportunity to provide a reason they should be in the conversation as a true Class AA championship contender as they hope to prevail over last year's champion, Andover. The No. 4 Huskies want to make a statement of their own that history can repeat itself.

The Royals raised some eyebrows with a 3-1 victory over the No. 5 ranked Lakeville South team on Saturday. Rogers is led up front by seniors Sam Ranallo (4-2-6), Payton Struck (0-4-4), and Matt Lomen (3-2-5), as well as a talented pair of sophomores in Parker Deschene (2-3-5) and Mason Jenson (2-2-4), provide the Royals scoring depth.

On defense, 6'3", 205lbs senior Chase Cheslock (St. Thomas commit, 0-5-5) brings skill and an NHL-sized frame, and sophomore Nolen Geerdes (0-3-3) gives Rogers another quality puck mover.

Senior goaltender Cade Champman (.926 save percentage) has been rock solid for the Royals this season.

Defending Class AA champion Andover played with a bit of a chip on its shoulder as it rolled to a 7-2 victory over Moorhead on Saturday. An experienced group of forwards leads the Huskies, including seniors Gavyn Thoreson (St. Cloud State commit, 4-3-7), Cooper Conway (Colorado College commit, 5-2-7), Cayden Casey(St. Lawrence commit, 1-2-3) and junior Ben Doll (3-1-4). Freshman KJ Sauer (1-2-3) looks like he could be a future star for this club.

On defense, the Huskies are still finding their way a bit, with senior Tristen May-Robinson (1-1-2) and juniors Anthony Pardo (0-1-1) and Landon Stringfellow (0-1-1) stepping into more prominent roles.

The Huskies have split starts at goaltender between senior Beau Altman (.926 save percentage) and sophomore Cal Conway (.878 save percentage) this season.
