CROOKSTON AT WARROAD (DEC. 6, 7:00 PM)

Brekken Tull, Crookston

If you listened to last week's episode of Her Ice, make sure you check out the interview with Crookston Girls hockey head coach Emily Meyer as she talks about how motivated her squad is to take on Section 8A and Greater Minnesota conference arch-rival Warroad.

The Pirates are coming off a respectable 0-0 tie against Class AA Blaine. Crookston has good scoring depth through its top two lines and is led up front by juniors Brekken Tull (7-5-12), Reese Swanson (5-5-10), and Cassie Solheim (4-5-9).

On defense, freshman Ashlyn Bailey (3-5-8) heads a Pirate blueline unafraid of joining the play on the rush.

At goaltender, Kambelle Freije (.960 save percentage) has been Crookston's starter throughout most of the season, and she will have to be at her best to keep this one close.

The Warriors are coming off a 10-7 barn burner of a victory over a top-notch Class AA Gentry Academy club on Saturday. Warroad's top line of seniors may be one of the best in either class, led by Rylee Bartz (18-11-29), Kate Johnson (Bemidji State commit, 10-13-23) and Talya Hendrickson (Bemidji State commit, 5-18-23). Sophomore Kaiya Sandy's (6-6-12) strong start.

On defense, Abby Chamernick (2-11-13) and Lexi Kirkeby (2-4-6) give the Warriors a formidable group of two-way players.

At goaltender, Warroad has rotated between senior Kate Stephens (.915 save percentage) and freshman Jordyn Werk (.833 save percentage) this season.
