Northfield at Orono (Dec. 13, 7:00 PM)

This is an intriguing Class A matchup against Section 1A Northfield and Section 2A Orono.  

Northfield is building momentum after a 4-1 victory over Big Nine conference rival Faribault. The Raiders are led up front by juniors Jake Geiger (7 goals, 6 assists, 13 points), Kamden Kaiser (8-4-12), and playmaker Cayden Monson (2-6-8). Northfield's power play has been red-hot to start the season, converting at a 54.5% rate.

On defense, junior Ty Frank (3-8-11), as well as seniors Mike Fossum (1-7-8) and Brecken Riley (0-2-2), make sure things don't get too chaotic on the Raiders' end of the ice.  

Senior goaltender Keaton Walock (1.60 goals-against-average) will get his best test of the young season against the Trojans.   

The Spartans are coming off a 4-3 overtime victory over New Prague. Orono's attack is led up front by seniors Avery Anderson (3-7-10) and Bradley Walker (4-3-7), as well as junior playmaker Easton Sankey (1-4-5). They like to roll three scoring lines and have a good balance between them. The Spartans are good with the man advantage and have converted at a 23.8% rate.  

On the blue line, juniors Joey Mugaas (0-6-6), John Engebretson (1-5-6), and Rylan Schultz (1-1-2) make up a mobile and active defense corps. Their 89.5% penalty kill will be tested by the Raiders' strong power play.  

At goaltender, 6'3" senior Johnny DeLong (2.48 goals against average, 1 shutout) has started every game for the Trojans this season.
