Grand Rapids at Edina (Dec. 15, 8:00 PM)

Bobby Cowan, Edina

The 'late' game at Braemar should be another dandy between Section 7AA Grand Rapids and Section 2AA Edina as part of the Holiday Classic.

The Thunderhawks are coming off their first setback of the season in a tough 3-2 loss against Class A powerhouse Warroad on Saturday. Grand Rapids is led at forward by seniors Hayden Davis (2-2-4) and Blayne Mortensen (1-3-4), as well as junior Gavin Forrest (3-1-4), who help the Thunderhawks employ a score-by-committee approach.

On defense, junior Bauer Murphy (1-5-6), senior Will Stauffer (2-4-6), and sophomore Luka Rohloff (1-5-6) make up a mobile and active defense corps for Grand Rapids.

At goaltender, senior Myles Gunderson (.951 save percentage) plays with a lot of confidence between the pipes for the Thunderhawks.

It has been a slow start by Edina standards, but they are hoping to build off a 3-2 victory over Benilde-St. Margaret's. Led by juniors Jackson Nevers (1-2-3), Bobby Cowan (1-0-0), and Ryan Flaherty (0-1-1), lead a forward group that lacks the typical scoring punch you usually see from the Hornets.

On defense, junior Eddie Revenig (Bemidji State commit, 0-2-2) carries a lot of the workload along with seniors Mike Mason and Charlie Sandven. They play a strong, physical, stay-at-home game as a group.

Senior Robbie Clarkowski (.913 save percentage) is experienced in goal, but he has to be at his best to keep games low, scoring as much as possible.

Bally Sports will televise this game.
