Orono at Mound Westonka/Southwest Christian (Dec. 21, 7:00 PM)

Alex Paulsen, Orono

Orono rolled to a 5-0 victory over Waconia on Saturday. The Spartans have looked good against some of the best teams in Class A. Orono is led at forward by junior Alexa Niccum (7-9-16), sophomore Zoe Lopez (10-7-17), and freshman Maddy Kimbrel (7-4-11).

On defense, junior Grace Bickett (2-12-14), sophomore Alex Paulsen (4-7-11), and senior Mae Grandy (2-5-7) make up a defense corps that helps Orono transition quickly from defense to offense. The Spartans' penalty kill is a very respectable 92% when you consider the competition (Warroad, Proctor/Hermantown, Gentry Academy) they've already faced this season.

Senior goaltender Celia Dahl (.944 save percentage, 5 shutouts) has been a source of stability and strength for Orono all season long.

Mound Westonka/Southwest Christian is coming off an 11-1 demolition of Pine City Area. The Whitehawks are led up front by seniors Sydney Leonard (New Hampshire commit, 13-10-23) and Gretta Pioske (Lindenwood commit, 10-8-18), as well as juniors Camryn Hargreaves (7-9-16) and Greer Hardacre (5-7-12). This is especially true on the power play, where they have converted at a 29.4% rate.

On defense, senior Emily Wendorf (2-9-11), junior Natalie Miner (2-4-6), and freshman Ali Butler (1-1-2) help Mound Westonka/Southwest Christian keep the ice tilted in their favor. Their penalty kill isn't too shabby either, shutting opponents' power plays down at an 88.2% rate.

Junior goaltender Ashlyn Roth (2.18 goals against average, 1 shutout) has started in every game this season.
