Addison Finn, Stillwater
Stillwater prevailed 8-1 over Woodbury on December 6th in their lone previous meeting this season. Can the Ponies pull off the regular season sweep and further solidify their seed in a crowded Section 4AA?
Stillwater is continuing to build momentum after a 3-0 victory over Park of Cottage Grove. The Ponies could be without Josie St. Martin (Ohio State commit, 16-18-34), who was playing for the bronze medal-winning Team USA at the U18 Women's World Championships tournament, which concluded on Monday. Juniors Myah Krueger (12-14-26) and Brooke Nelson (10-11-21), as well as senior Hunter Reardon (5-3-8), will have to spearhead Stillwater's attack in the possible case of St. Martin's absence.
On defense, senior captain Kylie Ligday (4-14-18), as well as junior Josie Lang (11-13-24) and Addison Finn (8-11-19), are very active in the offensive zone and help Stillwater dictate the pace of play.
Junior Lily Timmons (1.57 goals against average, 3 shutouts) has carried most of Stillwater's goaltending duties this season.
Woodbury is coming off a tough 3-1 loss to Roseville/Mahtomedi. The Royals are led up front by juniors Liv Mishacoff (9-5-14) and Abbey Lendzyk (5-7-12), as well as sophomore Natalie Meeder (7-4-11) and freshman Laini Gnetz (12-6-18).
On defense, senior Hannah Graunke (2-4-6), junior Bella Mishacoff (0-4-4), and freshman Brooke Gnetz (4-4-8) keep it simple and play a defensively-responsible game.
Eighth-grader Alyssa Polanski (1.97 goals against average, 3 shutouts) has shouldered most of the goaltending duties for Woodbury this season, but they have utilized junior Gracie Ambright (.864 save percentage) as well.
