Edina at Minnetonka (Jan. 19, 7:00 PM)

Mason West, Edina

Edina is building steam after a 5-2 victory over Buffalo.

The Hornets are led at forward by seniors Jackson Nevers (Minnesota commit, #167 NHL Central Scouting's Mid-Term rankings, 11-3-14) and Matt Vander Vort (6-6-12). Juniors Ryan Flaherty (4-6-10) and Bobby Cowan (6-4-10) give Edina good scoring depth. Youth Hockey Hub recently interviewed Edina's Jackson Nevers on their Rink of Fire podcast. Freshman Mason West (5-6-11) has terrific skill and is earning more praise each game.

On defense, juniors Eddie Revenig (Bemidji State commit, 0-9-9) and Barrett Dexheimer (Massachusetts commit, 1-6-7), as well as senior Charlie Sandven (3-2-5), are superb two-way defenders that can control the pace of play. Edina's 89.2% penalty kill has already been battle-tested as they wade into the always rough waters of Lake conference play.

At goaltender, senior Robbie Clarkowski (1.48 goals against average) has been Edina's workhorse between the pipes this season, but they have given some opportunities to junior Joe Bertram (1.50 goals against average) as well.

Minnetonka is rolling after a 4-1 victory over Duluth East. The Skippers' forward group is led by juniors Alex Lunski (St. Thomas commit, 5-12-17), Sam Scheetz (Vermont commit, 8-10-18), Javon Moore (Minnesota commit, 6-7-13), and Hagen Burrows (8-12-20). Sophomore Ashton Schultz (9-8-17) has flashed potential, and offers yet another skilled skater in the Skipper lineup.

On defense, junior John Stout (Minnesota-Duluth commit, 4-10-14), as well as seniors Liam Hupka (3-10-13) and Danny Pasqua (3-4-7), are skilled and capable puck-movers. Minnetonka is stifling opposing power plays at a 93.9% rate this season.

Senior Kaizer Nelson (1.17 goals against average) has carried most of the goaltending duties this season for Minnetonka, which has utilized junior Hunter Bauer (.972 save percentage) for a few starts as well.
