Mound Westonka/SWC at Holy Family (Jan. 24, 7:00 PM)

Katya Sander, Holy Family

This is an intriguing west metro area clash between a quality Section 5A Mound Westonka/SWC squad against a talented Section 2AA Holy Family team. The Fire prevailed 4-3 the last time these two teams faced one another on January 5th. Can Holy Family earn a sweep against Mound Westonka/SWC?

Mound Westonka/SWC is coming off a hard-fought 2-0 loss to Simley. The Whitehawks are led by senior captains Sydney Leonard (New Hampshire commit, 22 goals, 24 assists, 46 points) and Gretta Pioske (Lindenwood commit, 18-14-32). Juniors Camryn Hargreaves (12-20-32) and Greer Hardacre (13-10-23) round out a potent Whitehawks' attack. Mound Westonka/SWC's power play is cruising along at 32.8%.

On defense, senior Emily Wendorf (4-13-17), junior Natalie Miner (2-5-7) as well as freshmen Ali Butler (1-6-7) and Lizzy Callahan (5-9-14) provide a stable defensive presence with the ability to contribute offensively.

Junior goaltender Ashlyn Roth (1.63 goals against average, 5 shutouts) has started in every game for Mound Westonka/SWC this season.

Holy Family is coming off a 2-0 loss to Hill-Murray. The Fire is led at forward by senior captains Grayson Limke (Sacred Heart commit, 15-13-28), Taylor Koeppl (Saint Anselm commit, 4-16-20), and Maddy Helmstetter (St. Thomas commit, 9-9-18). Sophomore Josie Linn (17-15-32), as well as freshmen Haley Box (15-15-30) and Katya Sander (8-10-18) exhibit a ton of future promise for Holy Family.

On defense, seniors Ella Knewtson (Long Island commit, 2-11-13), Olivia Paidosh (Dartmouth, 2-7-9), and Justina Valentini (4-13-17) provide Holy Family plenty of skill and poise on the back end. This is a big reason the Fire only gives up an average of 1.29 goals per game, and its penalty kill is 91.3%.

Senior Sedona Blair (New Hampshire commit, .950 save percentage, 5 shutouts) has carried most of Holy Family's goaltending duties this season.
