Stillwater at White Bear Lake (Jan. 28, 9:30 AM)

Kylie Ligday, Stillwater

This is the early game on Hockey Day Minnesota as White Bear Lake takes on rival Stillwater in their second regular season meeting of the year, where a tournament-depleted Ponies' team prevailed 2-0 over the Bears. Can the Bears pull off an upset against a talented Ponies team?

Stillwater is coming off a 4-1 victory over Roseville/Mahtomedi and riding a 5-game winning streak. The Ponies are led by junior Josie St. Martin (Ohio State commit, 16-21-37), who is back after helping lead Team USA to a bronze medal at the U-18 World Championships. Fellow juniors Myah Krueger (13-17-30) and Brooke Nelson (10-14-24), as well as senior Hunter Reardon (5-3-8), round out the Ponies' attack.

On defense, senior captain Kylie Ligday (4-15-19) and talented juniors Josie Lang (12-12-24) and Addison Finn (9-13-22) make up one of the more active defensive corps in girls' high school hockey. They are almost as big a part of the Ponies' offense as they are their defense.

Junior Lily Timmons (1.65 goals against average, 3 shutouts) has carried most of the goaltending duties this season for the Ponies.

White Bear Lake is coming off a 3-0 victory against North St. Paul/Tartan. The Bears are led up front by juniors Haley Dawe (4-4-8), Zoe Timmons (4-5-9), and Ava Johnson (8-3-11), as well as sophomores Amanda Smythe (7-12-19) and Talia Domschot (5-10-15).

On defense, senior Annika Norman (0-1-1) leads a young group of underclassmen who will try to slow down the Ponies' dynamic attack.

Senior goaltender Mya Marston (.924 save percentage, 2 shutouts) has seen nearly 600 shots on goal this season and will likely get the start against Stillwater.
