Champlin Park/Coon Rapids at Rogers (Feb. 1, 7:00 PM)

Lily McKenzie, Champlin Park/Coon Rapids

This is an important Section 5AA matchup as Champlin Park/Coon Rapids hopes to avenge a 2-1 loss earlier in the season to the Royals. With Maple Grove or Centennial/Spring Lake Park battling for the #1 seed in Section 5AA, which club will take a big step towards earning the 3rd seed?

Champlin Park/Coon Rapids is coming off a 5-1 win over Northern Tier. Seniors Brooklyn Johnson (12-13-25) and Cam Singh (7-7-14), along with sophomore Lily McKenzie (12-19-31) and freshman Sydney Burnevik (11-13-24), lead the way offensively among Champlin Park/Coon Rapids forwards.

On defense, seniors Shelby Julien (2-9-11) and Kylie Scott (6-8-14), and freshman Kylie Aswegan (4-11-15) give Champlin Park/Coon Rapids capable puck movers that can help thwart the opposing rush and get them back on the attack.

Sophomore Maddie Wostrel (.906 save percentage, 3 shutouts) has carried all of the goaltending duties for Champlin Park/Coon Rapids this season.

Rogers is coming off a 1-0 victory over Brainerd/Little Falls. The Royals are led at forward by seniors Ava Johansson (15-15-30) and McKenna Sandberg (10-19-29), as well as junior Avery Achterkirch (Bemidji State commit, 17-14-31).

Junior Kamryn Messer (1-8-9), sophomore Sydney Bailey (3-10-13), and eighth-grader Erica Maida (0-4-4) are a youthful defensive group for Rogers, which has done a decent job of limiting scoring chances.

Rogers has rotated at goaltender between seniors Lauren Larson (.931 save percentage) and Alexa Backmann (.903 save percentage) this season.
