Roseau at Crookston (Feb. 2, 7:00 PM)

Taylor Field, Crookston

Comparables are important when it comes to seeding meetings. Wins and losses against common opponents can be the difference between earning a top seed and missing out on one.

How will this game affect the Section 8A and Section 8AA seedings as these two Greater Minnesota teams face one another for the first and only time this season?

Roseau is coming off a 5-1 victory over St. Cloud. The Rams are led by sophomores Payton Remick (24-16-40) and Lily Erickson (13-14-27), as well as freshman Jasmine Hovda (14-17-31).

On defense, sophomores Summer Byfuglien (5-10-15) and Kylie Bjerk (0-6-6), as well as eighth-grader Maryn Byfuglien (1-1-2), are a young group who will be tasked with slowing down the Pirates' attack.

Junior Jada Pelowski (.915 save percentage) carried most of the goaltending duties for Roseau this season, but they have given some opportunities to eighth-grader Madalyn Lisell (.833 save percentage, 2 shutouts) as well.

Crookston is coming off a 3-1 victory over Bemidji. The Pirates forwards are led by junior Brekken Tull (14-13-27), Taylor Field (12-12-24), and Emma LaPlante (11-3-14) gets Crookston's offense going.

Crookston uses a few players at forward and defense, depending on the situation during a game. Juniors Reese Swanson (18-14-32), Cassie Solheim (9-15-24), and Addison Fee (5-17-22) give the Pirates plenty of versatility.

On defense, sophomore Kaylie Clauson (4-7-11) and freshman Ashlyn Bailey (7-14-21) like to get involved offensively, and they help Crookston transition quickly from defense to offense.

Kambelle Freije (.915 save percentage, 3 shutouts) has been tabbed as the starting goaltender for most of the games this season for Crookston, but they have utilized senior Kaliee Magsam (.916 save percentage, 1 shutout) as well.
