Shakopee at Prior Lake (Feb. 7, 7:00 PM)

Cooper Simpson, Shakopee

This is a critical Section 2AA showdown between neighboring schools which will help solidify seedings. Shakopee prevailed 6-3 on January 7th. Can the Sabers earn a sweep over Prior Lake?

Shakopee is coming off a 6-4 loss to Lakeville South.

The Sabres are led at forward by seniors Jackson Vogel (20 goals, 22 assists, 42 points) and Linus Toward (7-19-26), along with sophomore Cooper Simpson (29-17-46) and freshman Nate Pederson (7-13-20). Shakopee's power play is potent, operating at 29.2%.

On defense, seniors Zane Orchard (0-7-7) and Lucas Larson (3-4-7), as well as freshmen Carson Steinhoff (2-17-19) and Jake Kultgen (4-7-11), are an interesting mix of experience and youthful skill on the back end.

Junior Aleksi Huson (.897 save percentage, 1 shutout) has shouldered almost all of Shakopee's goaltending duties this season.

Prior Lake is coming off a 3-0 victory over a pesky Chaska squad.

The Lakers' forward group is led by seniors Joe Rice (11-15-26) and Parker Boyce (12-6-18). Junior Matthew Pavek (6-6-12) and sophomore Levi Eiter (4-11-15) also help carry the majority of the scoring load for Prior Lake.

On defense, senior Ben Pfannenstein (0-8-8) and A.J. Pearson (0-4-4), as well as juniors Will Emerson (4-6-10) and C.J. Sheffield (0-4-4), help limit opposing scoring chances to keep games close.

Senior Ben Mickett (.911 save percentage, 4 shutouts) has been Prior Lake's workhorse between the pipes all season long.
