Moorhead's Michael Overbo scores for the Spuds in Grand Rapids Tourney

The North Peewee AA Regional Tournament will be up in Brainerd this weekend. Brainerd has a great hockey community and also has a great, new renovated rink. Coming into this tournament, many teams are playing top hockey. Favorites coming into these games are Moorhead and Cloquet. They have really been on fire lately. Two of the teams will carry that hockey onto another weekend... Let's see who TTW thinks will live to see another day.

Game 1: Grand Rapids v Duluth East - The great rivalry between the Hounds and Thunderhawks will return up in Brainerd. These two teams have played four times this year, with Duluth winning two of them and Grand Rapids winning two. All of the games have been really close, and look for that to happen again. Grand Rapids has had a tough schedule, but still has had a solid season. Dawson Broberg and Grant Wilson have been critical to Grand Rapids' success this year. Duluth East tied a really tough Osseo - Maple Grove team in late Janurary. That was huge for the Hounds.

Prediction: Grand Rapids

Game 2: Moorhead v Bemidji - Moorhead has played Bemidji three times this year, winning all three of the games. Moorhead has been strong all season, playing a really challenging schedule. The Spuds won the Star of the North tournament in Grand Rapids earlier in the year, and have built on that since. Moorhead made a metro-swing this year...which they went 0-3 on, but they did however play great. Bemidji is always a contender towards the end of the year. Bemidji has been lead by forwards Tate Hammitt and Gage Mostad. They have played big roles for the Lumberjacks this season.

Prediction: Moorhead

Game 3: Roseau v Brainerd - These two teams have seen each other twice on the ice, with each team winning one of those match-ups. Roseau has gone 7-2-1 in their last ten games, which is really good. Roseau has really stepped it up the second half of the season, and has gradually improved. Damon Furuseth has been a spectacular player for the Rams this year, as well as goaltender Andrew Tuttle. Brainerd is on a five game losing streak, but will be looking to end that on their home ice. Brainerd has a strong hockey community, and don't be surprised if the stands are packed. Brainerd will be looking up to players like Westin Andres and Ty Swenson to lead them to state.

Prediction: Brainerd

Game 4: Cloquet v Hibbing/Chisholm - Cloquet looks to be a favorite heading into these playoffs. They have had an amazing season, with only eight losses all year. These two teams have played each other twice, with Cloquet winning by a large margin in both of the tilts. Cloquet has many top players, and those guys will need to lift the team past Hibbing and past many more tough teams. Hibbing has not had a great year, but don't look at them as an easy team. They will come out ready to play.

Prediction: Cloquet

Final Four: Moorhead > Grand Rapids, Cloquet > Brainerd

Championship

Cloquet > Moorhead

First Two Out

Hibbing/Chisholm and Bemidji

Moving on to State

#1 Seed - Cloquet

#2 Seed - Moorhead

Duluth East is a hot team...they could be a spoiler in Brainerd.
