Osseo-Maple Grove skated to a 7-2 win over Eden Prairie on Sunday.

A season that began with a runner-up finish at the prestigious CCM Invite in Chicago, while playing a level up with the 15U teams, was capped with a state championship for the Osseo-Maple Grove Leafbirds.

In typical OMG fashion, the Leafbirds poured seven goals into the Eden Prairie net over the final two periods after the Eagles took a 2-0 lead after the first frame on goals by standouts Carter Batchelder and Drew Holt.

Six of those goals came in the second period, as Kyle Kukkonen scored three times in the second, with Chris Kernan, Justin Janicke, and Brandon Reller all tacking on a single goal to give the Leafbirds the insurmountable lead. William Matzke added the seventh goal in the third period of the win.

Tournament MVP ----> Kyle Kukkonen, Osseo Maple Grove

Justin Janicke made his last goal as a youth player a big one. He scores here on breakaway to give OMG the lead for good in the second period.
