A four-goal lead after two periods was enough for Woodbury to edge Hermantown 4-2 on Sunday.

Woodbury's four-goal start to the first two periods of Sunday's state title game could not have gone more perfectly.

The Predators hustled, cycled the puck, poured shots on the Hermantown net, and swarmed the Hawks' skaters in both the offensive and defensive zones.

Jake Fisher scored in the first period for the Predators, with Grant Kohnen, Ty Henricks, and Kevin Joyce all tallying goals in the second for the aforementioned 4-0 lead.

But Hermantown affirmed what many in the arena believed, that they were not through, and scored twice very early in the third period, with goals from Max Plante and Kade Kohanski,  to set the stage for a nail-biting final seven minutes in a seesaw battle.

Woodbury's defense and goaltender Kam Carlson rebounded from the tough start of the second and prevailed, earning the program's first state crown at the Peewee level.
