WIGSTON CONFERENCE RECAPS

Alexander Hage had a goal and an assist in Toronto's 3-1 win over BC Monday

Toronto Pro Hockey 3, British Columbia Jr. Canucks 1

You could be forgiven if you mistook Toronto Pro Hockey and the B.C. Jr. Canucks game for a mid-1990s battle between the Maple Leafs and the Canucks.

But instead of Doug Gilmour, there was Toronto's Alexander Hage scoring the first goal of the game in the second period, and in Pavel Bure's place, Liam Ruck answered for the Canucks.

Unfortunately for the Canucks, Hage's Pro Hockey team stepped up their game in the third period, with Ty Rupnow and Adam Valentini scoring to clinch the 3-1 win for Pro Hockey. Toronto goaltender Dylan Durno was named the game's First Star, making 22 spectacular saves on 23 shots from a talented B.C. Jr. Canucks club.

Madex Kabrud stopped all 16 Quebec shots in the win Monday for team Sask

Saskatchewan Jr. Pats 3, Team Quebec 0

Armed with two of the top goaltenders in the tournament, Team Quebec could ill afford to not produce offensively on Monday, which is of course exactly what happened.

Team Quebec was shut down by Saskatchewan Jr. Pats goaltender Madex Kabrud, who stopped all 13 shots he faced as Saskatchewan eventually wore down Team Quebec en route to a 3-0 win.

All three goals for the Jr. Pats came in the third period, as Carter Hudyma, Ethan Hamilton, and Cohen Harris notching goals. Harris' goal came on an empty net, icing the win in the final minute for the Jr. Pats.

Mason St. Louis had a goal and an assist for

Connecticut Jr. Rangers 6, Detroit Red Wings 1

The Connecticut Jr. Rangers buzzed and bullied their way to a resounding victory over the Detroit Red Wing, scoring twice in the first period, once in the second, and three times in the third while pumping 31 shots on the Detroit goal.

Mason St. Louis and Nolan Duskocy each scored once in the first period for the Jr. Rangers, with Joey Banas adding the team's third goal in the second period.

Another Joey owned the third frame for the Jr. Rangers, as Joey Salandra scored twice in the period on his way to being named the First Star of the game. Charlie Puglisi also scored in the third for the Jr. Rangers, while Detroit's lone goal came from James Gilliam during the game's final two minutes.

Carter Hudyma celebrates his empty net goal that seals the victory of Team Sask over Team PA

Saskatchewan Jr. Pats 3, Team Pennsylvania Brick 1

For the Jr. Pats, the best things come in threes, apparently.

Mere hours after shutting out Team Quebec 3-0, the Jr. Pats edged out Team Pennsylvania Brick 3-1, stretching their record to 2-0 on Monday.

Carter Stolte kicked off the scoring with a goal just 2:25 into the game, giving the Jr. Pats a 1-0 lead before Team PA's Avry Anstis evened the score seven minutes later. A scoreless second period set the stage for a dramatic third stanza, which did not disappoint when it came to excitement.

After Owen Chapman scored early in the third, the comeback attempt was on for Team PA, which tossed seven of its 16 total shots at the net in the third period to no avail. Saskatchewan's Carter Hudyma added an empty-net goal to cement the victory for the Jr. Pats. Team PA goaltender Chris Nichols stopped 22 of 25 shots in the loss.

CT Junior Rangers, lead by Hall of Famer Martin St. Louis went 2-0 to start the Brick Monday

Connecticut Jr. Rangers 4, Team Quebec 3

Although there were seven combined goals scored in Monday's finale, goaltending stole the show and the spotlight.

Team Quebec's Oceanne Michel Thiffault made 16 saves on the losing end, while her counterpart in the Connecticut Jr. Rangers net Zai Ferraro also stopped 16 shots but emerged victorious, making several key saves late in the game as team Quebec pulled Thiffault for two full minutes and applied intense pressure.

Offensively, Joey Banas of the Jr. Rangers ruled the day, recording a hat-trick in the win. The other Jr. Rangers goal was scored by Joey Salandra, who scored twice in the team's opening win earlier in the day. Banas' third goal proved to be the game-winner, scored at the 10:03 mark of the third period.

Power forward Louis Felix Bourque scored twice in the loss for Team Quebec, while speedy Kingsley Soloman netted Team Quebec's second goal and tormented the Jr. Ranger defense all night with his shiftiness and speed.
