Minnesota Icemen 5, Hometown Hockey 3

If the meat in a sandwich is the portion between the slices of bread, the second period of Sunday's 2008 Division championship game was roast beef, turkey, and ham.

Hudson Morris of Hometown and Connor Schubert of the Icemen each scored for their respective squads in the first period, sending the game to its second stanza knotted at 1-1.

Between the bread slices of the first and third frames, four goals were scored, as the Minnesota Icemen opened up their eventual eternal lead with three tallies. Quinton VeDepo scored twice for the Icemen in the second, with supplemental goals coming from Nate Chorlton, Connor Schubert, and Mikey Belde.

VeDepo, named the Tournament Most Valuable Player after recording five goals and 11 points, iced the game in the third with a five-hole shot that beat Hometown's netminder cleanly. Stryker Foster scored the lone goal of the third period for Hometown Hockey, pulling his team within two goals at 5-3.
