It wasn't the last, but it may have been the best.
The Minnesota Blades slipped past the Twin City Selects 4-3 in a shootout to claim the 2006 Division crown, as goaltender Easton Cody earned MVP honors after shutting down a talented Red Knight group of shooters.
The Selects took a 2-1 lead in the first period on goals from Graham Erickson and Caden Schlattman, with a Blades goal by Blaik Bork sandwiched between them. The play intensified in the second, as Will Dosan stretched the Selects' lead to 3-1, only to have the momentum stolen back after a second goal by the Blades' Bork. Will Zellers drew the Blades even with the Selects with a goal late in the second period.
Scoring the game-winner the shootout for the Blades was Brittan Alstead, whose goal set the stage for Cody's heroics.
