2006 Division Preview

Goaltender Nick Kempf (pictured here as a member of Team Midwest during the 2017 Show) is one of two talented netminders for the 2006 Chicago Young Americans.

Chicago Young Americans

Head Coach: Niko Dimitrakos

The 2006-born group of Chicago Young Americans relies heavily on playing team-oriented hockey, with several players contributing at both ends of the ice.

The goaltending duo of Nick Kempf and Chase Hennessey provides CYA with an insurance policy in its own end, while the bulk of the scoring can be handled by Charlie Pardue, Eero Butella, Brud Delaney, Ian Schmitz, and Charlie Arend.

Pardue recorded four goals and five points for the Midwest Selects during this spring's World Selects Invite, while Butella racked up five goals during the 2016 Brick Invite. Delaney skated well for Team Midwest during the 2017 North American Hockey Showcase, tallying two assists while helping the team to three wins with relentless play. On defense, Ryan Santiago, Ryan Jenks, and Noah Lapointe form the pillars of the CYA blueline group.

Great Plains

Head Coach: Derek Plante

The Great Plains team returns the vast majority of skaters who finished as the United States runner-up at the 2017 North American Hockey showcase and features one of the best defensive groups in the country. Keep an eye on forward Ben Miller and defender Will Skahan, as both finished tied for fourth in overall scoring for the AAA State Tournament's Peewee Major Division. Forward Brodie Ziemer tied for the team-lead with four goals during AAA State.

Northeast Wisconsin Jr. Gamblers

Head Coach: Matt Carey

The former Green Bay Jr. Gamblers will welcome three new players to the team that should contribute to a group that relies on speed and physicality in all three zones. Newcomers Logan Hughes in goal and forwards James Flanigan and Tyler Starich team with returning skaters Ben Carey, Austin Westergaard, and Cam Jones to fortify the Gamblers' lineup.

Twin City Selects

Head Coach: Cory Thorson

As the runner-up to the Minnesota Blades during the AAA State Tournament, the Twin City Selects have already shown an exciting team-wide speed and ability to handle the puck. Forwards Ashton Schultz and Jackson Turner help stoke the offensive machine. Schultz led all scorers in his age group with eight goals and 13 points during March's The Big One tournament, while Jackson Turner was named to the AAA State All-Tournament team after handing out five assists and scoring twice.

Ashton Schultz scored eight goals and totaled 13 points for the Black Bears during The Big One this spring.
