Chaska-Chanhasen will face Orono in the first round of the PWB State Tournament.

Chaska-Chanhassen vs. Orono

Chaska-Chanhassen has gone 8-0-1 in its last nine games, including a run of 17-1-1 in its previous 19 contests. The Stormhawks have split with first-round opponent Orono early in the season. Since a 3-4 stretch in December, the Spartans have gone 25-1 and enter the state tournament as one of Minnesota’s hottest teams.

Ely vs. Moorhead Black

Ely advanced out of the North Region, scoring quality wins over Duluth East Black, Northern Edge, and Rogers White, defeating the latter two teams by respective scores of 3-2 and 5-4. The Timberwolves will face Moorhead Black, which has gone 5-3 in its last eight games and posting an overall record of 24-4-3. The Spuds have only encountered one team in the Peewee B State Tournament field, falling to Bagley 8-6.

Stillwater vs. Eden Prairie

At 40-2-3, Stillwater has one of the best records from a win/loss standpoint in the state. The Ponies have not lost since Jan. 19, and have earned three one-goal victories in their last four games. Eden Prairie is 3-3 in its last six games, with two of those losses coming against tournament participant Chaska-Chanhassen. Five of the eight losses suffered by the Eagles have been by a single goal.

Bagley vs. Northern Edge

Bagley takes on Northern Edge in the final PWB quarterfinal game, with the Flyers riding a four-game winning streak through Region play. The Flyers have topped the 10-goal plateau 10 times this season. Six of Northern Edge’s 10 losses have been by a single goal, indicating that the handful of losses in question could have gone either way. Northern Edge is 14-10-5 on the season.
